June is a bountiful month for produce in central Virginia. Getting your five servings of fruits and veggies has never been easier or tastier! At the beginning of the month, you can still
find spring veggies like greens, lettuce, and salad mixes. Summer favorites like squash, cucumbers, and green beans start ripening mid-month, and by the end of the month, the first tomatoes start rolling in. Best of all, June is the perfect month for fruits of all kinds. Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries all hit their peak in June, plus you’ll find peaches and cherries and maybe even a few early apples. It’s a little too soon for local melons, but they’ll be here before you know it!
Our very own Scottsville Farmers Market is open Saturdays 9-1 where you can find all the best, in-season produce. Plus meat, baked goods, and an assortment of craft vendors.
