Dr. Preston Reynolds reports on the GIDI Covid-19 Rapid Response Grant 

HEARR through a grant submitted and administered by UVa's Dr. Preson Reynolds was able to survey our communities on how Covid-19 has affected their lives. This grant is an initiative of the Global Infectious Disease Institute.

On Tuesday, April 27, Dr. Reynolds presented the findings of this survey. The HEARR section of the video begins at about the 16-minute mark.

Covid-19 Rapid Response

Through a partnership with the Town of Scottsville we are able to create and distribute Covid Mitigation kits comprising of the following:

  • 5000 KN95 masks

  • 20,000 3-layer medical masks

  • 20 gallons of hand sanitizer create and publish the HEARR guide

  • print handouts for our kits and outreach events.

 

To date, we have distributed half of the supplies and are in the process of publishing the second version of the HEARR Guide with Spanish translations.

 

The funding came through CaresFunds.

With churches reopening, we wanted to assist with Covid Mitigation Kits made up of thermometers, posters, hand sanitizer, and masks. BRHD, Albemarle County, and the Town of Scottsville provided item

 

HEARR distributed 34 total 74 kits.

Take A Hike Day 2020

Scottsville Farmers’ Market

75 people reached through VCNA and historic tours, tie dying masks, and conversations.

Esmont: Simpson Park

 

40 community members joined in a hike in Simpson Park.

 

Partnered with Blue Ridge Health Department and the Yancey School Community Center
